Strong and decisive painting. Picked the tone of the portrait exactly right. What a lively painter's touch. Nice how the light hits the dark coat on the right shoulder and the other side exactly the other way around. Maybe the background could have been a bit more vague. The skin almost vibrates. You can feel the blood running through the veins. The firm strokes and color choices are carried through throughout the work. And that is what makes this portrait a gem.
